ADTU or Assam Downtown University was founded in 1997 to
provide underprivileged patients with affordable medical care. However, the
trust quickly diversified into social service programs and higher education
facilities. The aim of the trust was to provide affordable but good quality
education for all students. The university quickly became so popular that the
UGC, the AICTE, the INC, PCI, IAP all recognized it as a premier teaching
institute. The college will also acquire NAAC accreditation in this year.
Advantages of studying Paramedical courses at ADTU
ADTU has a separate faculty that provides paramedicalcourses for interested students. The paramedical section was started in 1997
with diploma courses but the university was quickly able to expand into
graduate and postgraduate paramedical courses as it already had an attached
medical hospital and trained medical staff. In 2009, the College of Paramedical Courses
was set up to offer student’s more than twenty different courses at the
graduate and postgraduate level. The college has expert postgraduate staff
teaching students along with the best laboratory equipment and educational
facilities. The attached hospital has excellent amenities in the form of
trained hospitals, equipment, medication and patient flow. The relevant
accreditation councils of India approve the institute and medical facility and
students who pass the course can register with their own councils for practice.
Students who pass the course have to complete an internship
at the 300-bed hospital attached to the institute and they are also encouraged
to go on medical treatment camps to gain additional expertise. After passing
the course, the college also assists them in finding a good job through the
placement center.
